The second colour we chose to talk about is red, a symbol of passion, warmth and dynamism.
In the Antiquity, the chromatic system had only three poles: white for colorless, black for dirty and red for… colour! Why? Because these are the pigments that humans have mastered the earliest and most easily, both for painting and for dyeing.
Red plays on paradoxes by animating passionate feelings in complete contradiction: love / anger, sensuality / sexuality, courage / danger, ardour / prohibition… Indeed, until the 19th century, red was the color of the bride – on her wedding day, a woman would put on her most beautiful dress, which could only be red. At the same time, prostitutes had to wear red clothing to be spotted on the street, and brothels were identified by a red lantern. Red, already at that time, embodied two images of love: divine and sin.
Did you notice that lots of brands use this colour in their logo? It's the case of Coca-Cola, H&M, Levi’s Netflix, YouTube, Nintendo, Canon, Lego, Yamaha, but also the Rolling Stones!
To please your ears, we advise you to listen to the piece of music “Red and black light” of the French-Lebanese jazz trumpeter and composer Ibrahim Maalouf, as well as the song “Infra-Red” of the famous English rock band Placebo.
